Descendants of the Sun as Phenomenal Korean Television Drama 2016

There was a time when I longed to watch another South Korean television drama, after falling in love with Save Your Last Dance For Me, Queen Seon Deok, Stairway to Heaven, Someone Like You and My Love Donna television series. On Facebook, some of my friends post fascinating images of their favorite South Korean television series and I noticed that Descendants of the Sun is a usual sight.

That made me watch all of its episodes on Youtube. Obviously, I fell in love with Descendants of the Sun, too.

There’s only one word to describe Descendants of the Sun to sum up its popularity – phenomenal. The reasons? Let’s talk about it one by one.

  1. The leading stars have noticeable chemistry at the start of the story up to the ending. Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo make you fall in love against all odds in the series. Through the natural acting of the lead stars, you’ll be literally taken to a nostalgic place, to the days you fell in love with someone, and reminisce the things you’ve done for the person that you truly love. Of course, I don’t want to forget warning you that Song Hye Kyo’s performance in the show was exceptionally captivating and you’ll end up crying with her in the scenes where she has shown her true feelings towards Song Joong Ki’s character, Captain Yoo Shi Jin. The latter has an enchanting charisma that was brought by his ability to convince you that love knows no bounds, whenever and wherever you are. Personally, it’s impressive to hear Doctor Kang Mo-Yeon ask Captain Yoo Shi Jin something like this: “Give me the right to worry about you.” I’m enamored of their chemistry when I saw the mesmerizing scene wherein Captain Yoo Shi Jin fixed the shoelaces of Doctor Kang Mo-Yeon.
  2. The supporting characters perfectly created the circle around the love story of the lead stars. The mysterious love story of Major Seo Dae-young and Yoon Myeong-joo is something you’ll approve, knowing that they’re capable of making you believe that being away with your loved one is a very sad experience that you’ll always afraid it will happen anytime. The best thing to do is to fight for it no matter what. The shirtless soldiers? You’ll be amazed of it, laugh out of it and be surely entertained. The nurses and doctors, including Daniel Spencer and Ri Ye-hwa have incredibly added spices to the story.dots style
  3. You’ll love the intense fighting scenes. Right near the ending, you’ll understand the importance of treating people well, may it be an enemy or not. There was one scene that Captain Yoo Shi Jin explained that they were “saved by a friend.”
  4. The television series is indeed a total global sensation. The gorgeous lead stars, amazing supporting cast, the remarkable backdrop and plot of the story, the handsome main antagonist, the picturesque beach view and more – made it world-class. If you’re a fan, you’ll be amazed of the latest news about this. Wait, until it will be shown in the Philippines. I’ve heard from my office manager that a major television network in the country had already bought rights to air the show in the country. Personally, I have no doubts legions of followers from here will join the ranks of solid Descendants of the Sun fans. If it’s already popular in other countries, it will be phenomenal here, too. Since reports have hinted that a second season is underway, it will be another reason to follow through.

Obviously, I was thrilled seeing the news creating a hype the show. Focus Taiwan News Channel shared that Song Joong Ki is going to meet his Taiwan fans soon. Have you seen the YouTube video where Song Joong Ki didn’t expect throngs of fans wait for him in the airport? You’ll be amazed, too.

For those who want to know more about Descendants of the Sun, Rolala Loves shared an amazing post about it. Aside from that, Drama Fever posted a simple yet thought-provoking review of the show.
